Tampa Bay Cycling is proud to announce Sweetbay Supermarket as it's title sponsor for 2008. Sweetbay Supermarket has shown a great commitment to the sport of cycling in the past two years and has extended that relationship into 2008.
We are "Sweetbay Cycling", our team/club's name for 2008, are very excited for the upcoming season as we have made and will me making some significant changes.
We will also start in 2008 a cycling club for all ages and all levels of riders who are welcome to join us on local rides throughout the year which will be listed on our Calendar section.
As in the past we will also have an elite team which is focused on helping younger riders with support, coaching and nutrition via our Sweetbay Supermarket partners to get to the next level in cycling. Sweetbay Cycling consists of CLUB and TEAM members:
CLUB MEMBERS are mostly touring / recreational cyclists who's interest in cycling are to enjoy safe group riding, riding with their families on the weekends, anyone looking to get in shape, anyone wanting to meet new people, or anyone looking into progressing to make the racing team. Everyone is welcome to Sweetbay Cycling!
TEAM MEMBERS are mostly racing / competitive cyclists who's interest in cycling are to train with a purpose and compete in various racing series in Florida and select national and international events.
As a member of Sweetbay Cycling you will be entitled to 10% discounts at select bicycle shops, special pricing from American Classic, a local manufacturer of bicycle wheels and components, VIP access to Sweetbay's hospitality tents at select cycling events in Florida, special club pricing for uniform items, and to join the elite team at training camps along with the friendships that will be made with your new cycling club members.
We have also teamed up with select local bicycle shops in the Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg area to help promote cycling by offering discounts of 10% or more and with American Classic, manufacturer of the world's lightest bicycle racing wheel, which will offer special pricing to members only.

April14 2008 - Anthony Astrab will be competing in Collegiate Nationals in two weeks then will join the team for the Tour of Atlanta and the rest of the season.
April 13 2008 - Andrew Gonzales narrowly missed a win this past weekend in the Deland Road Race but was caught inside the last kilometer after being in a three man break away for the last 12 miles.
April 10 2008 - Sweetbay Cycling prepares to help out the leaders at the St Anthony's Triathlon by escorting them through the streets of St. Petersburg during the final running leg in this world class event. Come out and join team Sweetbay Cycling and other athletes by showing your support at this Sweetbay Supermarket sponsored event. Sweetbay Cycling's own Javier Beuzeville will be racing in this event as well racing against some of the best Tri-athletes in the world and we wish him all the best.
April 6 2008- Sweetbay Cycling makes the trip to Rock Hill, South Carolina with Anthony Gonzales taking 7th in the Pro class in the 500 meter street sprints. The team also raced in some very wet condition throughout the weekend. During the 90 mile road race Anthony was hit from behind on his bicycle and had to pull out of the race due to a cracked frame. Sean worked with another teammate to pull back a breakaway in the last 80 miles only to miss the counter attack which turned out to be the winning move. If things had gone as plan Anthony would have been in that winning move, stated Sean.
Mar 22 2008 - Sean Coleman takes 8th at Webster-Rouxbaix and in his first Pro12 road race Anthony Gonzales takes the field sprint for 12th with a very impressive finish. This team will be built around younger riders such as Anthony in the years to come as this team continues to grow and develop, stated Sean.
Mar 9 2008 - Javier Beuzeville qualified for a spot in the famed Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. Javier posted posted a faster run time leg than the defending Collegiate and U23 National Champion, and he is well on his way to becoming an Olympian a top Professional sometime very soon.
Jan 13 2008 - 2006 World Triathlon Silver medalist Javier Beuzeville to ride
for Sweetbay Cycling for 2008. Javier will maintain a local and national
triathlon schedule as he prepares to upgrade to the professional ranks for
2008.
Dec 20 2008 - Florida State women's road race age group Champion Kim Vaughan verbally commits to Sweetbay for 2008.
Dec 18 2008 - Lori Castellano, Florida Road Race category and Criterium
category Champion will race for Sweetbay in 2008. Lori will be looking to
double up her championship wins again this year with a solid women's team
behind her.
Dec 12 2007 - USF Cycling Team Captain Anthony Astrab to race for Sweetbay
this year as one of the newest and most promising members. Anthony made the
move from Gearlink last year to Sweetbay this year after some very
impressive results at some of the countries toughest professional races.
Anthony will be supported by teammates Mark Yeager and Sean Coleman.
Dec 2 2007 - Sweetbay team manager Sean Coleman is selected to the 2008 US
Armed Forces Cycling Team which will represent United States at the World
Championships in Novo Mesto, Slovenia on 3-5 October 2008. He will race
locally and regionally for Sweetbay in 2008.
Nov 28 2007 - Florida State Masters Time Trial Champion Mark Yeager make
the move to Sweetbay Cycling for 2008 from Neptune Cyclery. Mark Yeager is a
past two time Florida State Masters Road Race Champion and will contribute
to the progression of the team as they look forward to 2008.
